School Shows
Minstrels and Dragons! with the Ferla Marcinizyn Guitar Duo
This show spans the history of popular music ranging from French Renaissance songs to Peter, Paul and Mary. We touch on the songs of Stephen Foster, English, French and Brazilian folk songs and feature guitar, banjo and percussion. It’s a fun, accessible and educational program suitable for all ages, even the little ones. This show is also suitable in situations where the students have special needs.
Street Songs, the Music of Hammerstein and Sondheim
An adaptation for high school students featuring the songs of these two great artists. Oscar Hammerstein was like a second father and mentor to Stephen Sondheim. This is an historical cross section of songs with ideas about tolerance and humanity; it’s also got fun moments and is effective.
Master Classes
As an instructor on the private/college level, I have worked with vocal students of all ages. I present master classes for choral groups, as well as colleges, high schools, and faith-based institutions, offering instruction on interpreting musical theatre, song standards, and even opera repertoire. These classes are designed to encourage and empower individual talent, and are often exciting, illuminating experiences for the participants. I carry the motto: one is never too old to learn. I also believe that young talent must be nurtured and encouraged.
Residencies
A typical 2-day residency will culminate in a performance by the students, performing the pieces that may have been coached in the Master Class; often regardless of age group; I find it a useful tool in building bridges in communities to have a diverse group of participants, learning from each other, as well.
Private Teaching-Private coaching can be made possible for one-on-one learning for students of all ages.
